LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN

NOW, March through April 2023 is the critical time to advocate for breaching the Lower Snake River Dams.  It is now that President Biden has a unique opportunity to turn the tide by including dam breaching in a settlement for the lawsuit; National Wildlife Federation v. National Marine Fisheries Service, pending in Oregon.

Settlement negotiations are underway at this moment and a decision whether to breach likely will be kicked up to President Biden in April

We ask that you take immediate action below, as public pressure is an excellent way to influence next steps!  Time is of the essence.

Skip to minute 11 to hear President Biden's commitment to recovering salmon in the Columbia River [misspoken as the Colorado River], of which the Snake River is the largest tributary.  If this happens in the near-term, we could live in a changed universe.

With a stamp and an envelope and your letter to President Biden, you can influence him to do the right thing and breach the four lower Snake River dams.  Breaching would recover salmon, steelhead and orcas, and begin to uphold indigenous people’s rights.

Three prepackaged letters here provide you a choice in tone & perspective and can be customized as you wish.  All encourage Biden to act by accepting LSR dam breaching in the settlement.

Please choose at least one. Send all three if you can!

  • download one or all,

  • add your name, address & date at the top,

  • add your own lead paragraph by telling the President who you are as a person.  We know personalized messages are more effective ... are you:

    • a grandparent who’d like your grandchildren to see native salmon,

    • a fly fisher who’d like to catch one,

    • a nature lover who’d like to see a wild river restored,

    • a Native American who would like to see a free flowing river and your rights upheld,

    • a senior citizen who’s waited for 20 years for breaching, or

    • a young person who believes in the future of a healthy planet?

  • add your typed name at the bottom,

  • print,

  • sign,

  • address an envelope (see White House address at the top of each letter), stamp & mail.
